Henry Wallpaper – Toure/Lehmann Fight

Thierry Henry Wallpaper - TeaserI’ve uploaded a new wallpaper image today. It features Henry again in a fabulous pose while applauding the crowd. It’s pretty basic but I hope that everyone is enjoying these wallpapers. I think they are by far better than some of the other crap that’s out there. I hope I’m right. The Best Arsenal Wallpapers on the Internet… yeah…

The only thing that could have made Sunday any better was if Chelsea and Mancehster United had lost. Tottenham and Newcastle both lost which was absolutely fantastic, but those teams aren’t really putting up much of a fight to begin with. Hopefully some losses for the top two will come sooner rather than later.

Freddie Ljungberg was named Sweden’s player of the year today. Good for him. Hopefully we’ll see him on the pitch in Sunday’s encounter with Newcastle and he can score a goal to celebrate. He is reporting for International duty on Wednesday and if we’re lucky he won’t pick up another injury. Damn that International duty.

In other news Wenger has finally spoken about his spat with Pardew. He has stated that he regrets the confrontation and even went so far as to say he should have shaken hands with Pardew after the match. I pretty much expected this sort of reaction. He reacted the way he did for a very legitimate reason, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t wish he could take it back. It’s just unfortunate that Mr. Pardew could cause that sort of reaction out of our generally well behaved manager.

Many of the players, including Henry, have been talking about how important the win over Liverpool was for the team. Indeed even Arsene has stated that this win has been the build-up of an internal struggle for the team itself. No amount of media buzz or build-up will help matters, it’s just a matter of the team coming together to win.

There’s still no talk of action against West Ham for the coin-throwing-cunt incident. However this article does mention that the F.A. is trying to buckle down on the situation. I can’t imagine fans throwing things at players in any American league… and if it did happen that fan would get fined and banned for life most likely. The arena for a football sporting event is a bit bigger than that of the NBA or other sports though, but hopefully the F.A. can find a way to catch these wankers.

Flamini has come out to say that he wants a more central role in the team and is even asking to be a regular start in that position. I don’t know that I’m really opposed to the idea, but with Fabulous, Gilberto, Hleb and Rosicky, and Ljungberg… I can only see him in an alternate role coming in when necessary. That being said though, he performed quite well in the match against Liverpool and I think he deserves a shot. If he continues to perform like that, I think it would behoove us. He was quite well composed in the ATVO interview, check it out. Behoove means to be ‘proper for’ just in case you were wondering.

And finally, does anyone remember the incident between Toure and Lehmann during the game against Moscow (or was it Everton?). If so, please speak up. I recall Lehmann screaming at Toure, and in return Toure shoving Lehmann, and then it went back and forth. I assume the incident was resolved internally and the two are chums again, but it’s never fun to see two players on the same team fighting with each other during a match. Especially gunners. If you recall this spat or have any other insight into it, speak now or forever hold your peace. It seems to have faded away into the night and I want to seek some closure.

  1. Hi,

I remember that incident pretty well. After some shabby defending by the back four, Lehmann as usual was screaming his head off at Toure and the boys. Though shockingly, Toure decided to say something back and shove Mad Jens in the process. It was purely due to the intensity of the game and we havn’t seen anything like that since. That’s the kind of passion we need from our back five, though hopefully they won’t do all that in public again. Doesn’t show our team in a good light, also gives the media something to write about.

  2. I do indeed remember that incident, the whole thing seemed to be glazed over. I’m pretty sure it was the Everton game. I seem to remember Lehmann going up to claim a high ball and Toure collided with him a bit almost causing him to spill it. Then they started having a go at each other, I was pretty dissappointe by it, I hope Arsene noticed it and sorted it out.

  3. I remember that incident too…but i’m almost 100% sure that it was Lehmann who shoved Toure, not the other way round…or maybe I missed the part where Toure shoved Lehmann…but I’m quite sure that Lehmann did push the defender quite hard, and Toure looked pretty upset about it….so was Wenger

I believe it was because a cross was coming in, and Lehmann shouted to catch the ball but Toure somehow interfered, so Lehmann was fkn pissed off.

  4. Yes, remember this one too. It was a high ball in the box. Lehman caught it and bumped into Kolo in the process who was backtracking to head it away. Up to then, everything was ok. But we were trailing and needed to score quickly (pretty sure it was in the second half against Everton). So Mad Jens wanting to throw the ball as soon as he got it, urged his defenders to go out of the area to play a quick counter-attack. But by then Kolo was still in his path. So he shoved into him. Kolo did not take that too well and turned around to argue with him. Which slowed the process even more and made Jens even angrier. Nothing much came out of this though as they are both true professionals (I think).

  5. While in Dortmund years ago Jens went up to the middle of the pitch and knocked down one of his defenders.Got red for that ;-)
By the way-there’s a glimpse of him being beaten down by Henry in CL match -penalty shot ! He sure played well in that match and possibly caught Wenger’s eye …
    Greetings from Poland.

  6. there was nothing to the bust-up and shouldntt be called that either. i see it as getting ur defence alert. simple as that. And why worry what the media writes. who can come out and say, me and me best mate have never had a little banter. i believe things like that are needed to apreciate and respect ur team mate

  7. I think Jens was out of order. There was a bit of a misunderstanding between them, so the blame was 50/50, but Jens just started bawling at Toure loud and long. Toure, thought, fu** that, you were just as much to blame so I am not taking that from you and turned round to tell him so. then Jens just pushed Toure quite hard. Toure realised that there was no point trying to talk and turned and walked away but was clearly not happy with Jens and rightly so. he is a true nutter.

Theres the video nothing major i think just miscommunication and u know how much intensity and desire our team has im acutally happy it happened.

  9. I was behind the goal, it was definately with a 1000% certainty against CSKA in the second half. I personally found it hillarious, they didn’t speak for the rest of the match.

  10. As far as Americans throwing things at sporting events, we are the worst! I remember one time they gave away baseballs at a Los Angeles Dodgers game and they had to stop the game because all 10,000 balls they gave away ended up getting thrown on the field. Absolutely ridiculous!

  11. XAV described the incident exactly. Jens is just a competitor, and the heat of the moment got the better of him. A true madman, and a true legend.

  12. The Best Arsenal Wallpapers on the Internet? Nah!. Ever seen the Arsenal wallpapers at Soccer Art?

But credits to you for doing these stuff which are quite good, though not the best there is.
